Canine Physiotherapy

It can be really terrifying acknowledging that your dog is suffering and possibly in pain, particularly with the financial consequences that may bring. However, it is often small simple changes that make a big difference and these do not need to be costly at all. It has been really rewarding to help many dogs and their families navigate this journey and ultimately everyone is much happier for it!

I am committed to continuing professional development and with over twenty years of physiotherapy experience behind me, I still regularly attend courses and keep up to date with current developments, networks and research to ensure my approach is current best practices and gold standard.

There is an annual minimum requirement of CPD to maintain professional registration with ACPAT and the HCPC.

So please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any concerns about your dog.

Vets will refer to physiotherapy for postoperative rehabilitation and further assessment and management of orthopaedic or musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.

I also see dogs with veterinary referral for fitness and conditioning.

What to expect ;

I look forward to welcoming you to my base near Somerton, which has lots of space to assess and examine your dog in an enriching environment. Being rural, there are lots of sights and smells which provide positive stimulation and useful for dogs that can be easily triggered.

Typically sessions will involve a thorough history taking (relevant history and reports will also be obtained from the vets in advance), movement assessment and physical examination. Treatment, strategies and rehabilitation exercises can then be discussed and a home program provided via email.

Treatments will include hands on techniques for example fascia release and massage, laser, NMES, and facilitation of muscle activity through exercises.

The best outcomes are through collaboration with all members of the team, for example vets, hydrotherapists and trainers and with your consent I liaise with these as needed.
